10 Simple Steps to Write a Song

Writing a song can be one of the most rewarding and daunting challenges for any musician. Although there are many different ways to write a song, these suggestions contain a few simple steps that we think might help you along the way. If you follow them, you’ll find your musical journey an easier one!

1- First Come Up With A Title.

Like any story or novel, you need a name for your song to call it something. This is important for you to know because after hearing this name many times, you’ll remember your song when next time you need it. The title doesn’t need to be anything fancy, but try to make it so that it is easy for you to remember. This website is a place to download the latest, trending and high-quality music torrents and also a place to download movies and games, also you can get inspiration for your own creative things!

2- Write Some Chords.

Assume you don’t already know how to play certain chords that correspond with the melody of your song. A simple Google search will uncover many chord charts and other lessons on playing them. Suppose you’re in a band and can find a bassist or drummer who can set up the rhythm and help you come up with melodies. When crafting your melody, keep in mind to start slow and essential so that the general structure of your music remains consistent.

3- Come Up With A Short Story.

You can call it the plot of your song, which will be based on different events or emotions that you want to share through your songs. The events that happen inside this plot are just ideas for you to use, but they will help you choose what kind of music/lyrics you want to use in each verse and chorus.

4- Come Up With A Verse.

This is the beginning of your song. There are many different ways to write a verse, but we recommend you try coming up with your unique path. The way you start each verse should be very different from the other verses in the song, so make sure it doesn’t sound like any other song. We know it can be not easy to come up with an original and catchy melody but try. It will help you greatly when writing your verses next time.

5- Write Lyrics That Fit The Melody Of Your Song.

Whenever you write a verse, try to keep the melody of your song in mind while writing the words. As already mentioned, you don’t have to be too fancy when coming up with your lyrics, but make sure they sound good next to your melody. Don’t forget that it is also vital that your lyrics fit with your song’s chord progression, so there is a flow between the music and lyrics.

6- Write Another Verse.

Your song will not be complete without at least two verses. You can write as many verses as you want, but around five to seven should be enough for a whole album (if you want people to hear it). This will give you enough space to talk about different things and use various topics when writing your song.

7- Write A Chorus.

The chorus is supposed to be the central part of your song, so make sure you write it accordingly. It is good if your chorus has a different rhythm from the rest of your song because this will help to distinguish it from the other parts of the song. When writing a chorus, try to come up with new lyrics that are not used in any other part of your song so that they stand out more clearly.

8- Write A Bridge.

Your song will be complete without a bridge. It is used to change the song’s mood by providing some relief from the other parts of your song that might have been more intense. A bridge is supposed to help you transition between different parts of your song, which means it should remind you of other parts (i.e., the chorus) while also sounding completely different.

9- Rhyming

When writing a song, you mustn’t forget to rhyme the verses and chorus. This is not very hard to do at all. If you find that the words of your rhymes aren’t coming to you naturally yet, don’t worry! It won’t happen overnight, but still, it should be easy for you after some time.

10- Come Up With An Overall Structure For Your Song.

Many songs have a fairly stable structure, while some others have a more accessible form in their systems. You must choose a different structure for each song because things like the title and lyrics need to be organized somehow. If you don’t give your songs any form, it might not be easy for people to listen to them.

11- Practice And Have Fun!

When you’re out of time, stop and play your song for as many people as you can. The only way to find if your song is any good is by showing it to other people and listening to their feedback. Remember that your music is not meant to be just for you, but for other people as well. Try to remember these steps when you write a song the next time you have more time.

Conclusion:

By following all these steps, you will most likely be on your way to writing your first song. However, remember that this means anything is possible with music, so if you want to write something different or even use another instrument in your songs, go ahead!
